The Strutt Mills have dominated Belper and neighbouring Milford. But who were the Strutts? And why have their innovations at the mill sites warranted Belper’s inclusion in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage List?

In time for the 250th anniversary of the first Strutt Mill in Belper, the volunteers of the Belper North Mill Trust have put together a book packed with information about the innovative architecture, continued use of water power, the mill workers and the Strutt family’s impact on Belper and Milford. Volunteer, Jane Whitaker will be talking to Belper writer and photographer, Ashley Franklin.
