Steve Dunne - Inside the dark world of the serial killer

Derby Book Festival has teamed up with the Society of Authors, Derby Libraries and Derbyshire Library Service to organise a series of talks by local authors in libraries across the city and county in June with more planned in the autumn. 

Steven Dunne was born in West Yorkshire, studied at the University of Kent and awarded an Honours degree. In 1996 he moved to Derby to teach and, began planning a thriller set in the city. In 2007, he self-published Reaper, a highly acclaimed serial killer thriller, featuring the hyper-intelligent but mentally troubled detective, DI Damen Brook, which was a success, the Rights were optioned by Harper Collins and The Reaper was published in 2010. Six more critically acclaimed books followed in the Damen Brook series, including A Killing Moon, which won the East Midlands Book of the Year Award in 2016. His new series began with Blood Summer which is set in and around Nice, in Southern France, and features Commandant Serge Benoit. He is currently writing the second in the series entitled Animal Rites.
