Congratulations for voting!
Psssst! This page is for anyone that has voted today. Not for grown-ups. Grown ups you DON'T get to decide this. Our vote is for children only. If you are an adult, please get the extremely important person who voted here instead.
Do we have a voter here?
Thank you for being such a vital part of the Derby Children's Picture Book Award. We hope you enjoyed voting for your favourite book in this year's shortlist. On Thursday 3rd April the winning book will be announced live in your classroom by last year's winners Naomi Jones and Rebecca Ashdown (author and illustrator of Thunder Boots).
This year 63 Derby schools have taken part in the DCPBA and with children in Year 2 and 3 reading the books, that is 217 classes! So today, approximately 6,500 children in Derby (just like you) have voted! Democracy in action!
Democracy is the foundation of the UK's political system. This British value is based on the idea that everyone should have an equal say in how their country is run, and that the government should be accountable to the people.
Our vote isn't for the government, but here at Derby Book Festival we are accountable to you. Whichever book gets the most votes (all votes are equal), that is the book that will win.
Thanks again for being involved. The winner will be live (virtually) in your classroom some time in May.
