A Derby Book Festival Community Programme Event

We are delighted to announce the launch of our 7th book of stories written by the Derby College Lexis students – young people who have only recently arrived in the UK and are learning English, including refugees and asylum seekers. The stories this year are based on a visit that the students made to Chatsworth House, supported by the Learning and Engagement team, and the thoughts and memories of home that the visit inspired. The writing is accompanied by illustrations done by the College Art students and photographs of the visit taken by 3 undergraduate photographers from the University of Derby. During the event, the authors and artists will talk about being involved in the project and what it has meant for them.

The Event will be accompanied by a viewing of an Exhibition of work from the book in the Derby College Roundhouse Library, funded by Foundation Derbyshire (Griselda & William Kerr Fund).
