We understand you may have questions or queries around this year's Festival and have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions.

When is the next Derby Book Festival?

Our Autumn Edition is taking place from 5 - 9 November 2021 at QUAD and Derby Theatre. We have in-person and live streamed events, as well as a Digital Pass with recordings from selected events.

You are advised to check the listing of the event you are interested in for all the ticket options.

When will tickets be available?

Here are the key dates for your diary:

Festival Friends have priority booking for our special event with Pam Ayres (at Derby Theatre) from 10am Monday 30 August, with the general release for this event taking place on Friday 3 September.

Festival Friends have priority access to the 10 events (at QUAD) which form the rest of our Autumn programme from Monday 13 September, while the general release is taking place on Monday 20 September.

How can I book tickets for the Autumn Edition?

You can book tickets several ways. You can:

  • visit our website here to book tickets for all events to be held at Derby Theatre and at QUAD

  • contact Derby Theatre to book tickets for Pam Ayres via their website or

  • call their box office on 01332 593 939 or visit in person between Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm.

  • book tickets for all events taking place at QUAD by visiting our website here, or via the QUAD website

  • call QUAD’s box office on 01332 290 606 or visit in person.

I have a carer. Do they need to book a ticket?

Our policy is to provide a complimentary ticket to any carer on request. Please contact the QUAD box office or email hello@derbybookfestival.co.uk for more information.

Where can I view the programme?

All our events will be listed on our website here. We will also distribute copies of our Festival Programme to our event venues (Derby Theatre, QUAD), local libraries, and bookshops around Derby and Nottingham.

I’m not ready to return to in-person events. Can I watch online?

Yes. We have several options this year: we are filming and recording many of our events and you can book tickets to watch these as live streamed events or you can buy a Digital Pass for £15 to watch these recordings after the Festival has finished. You can view more details about the Digital Pass here.

What is the Digital Pass?

The Digital Pass gives you access to watch all the recorded Festival events. The full list of events that you can watch with the Digital Pass can be found here, please ensure you read it carefully as not all events are available to watch.

Our Digital Pass costs £15 and you can view the events from Monday 8 November @ 7pm until Monday 6 December.

If my event is cancelled, can I have a refund?

Yes - tickets are refundable (and exchangeable where possible) if your event is cancelled.

If the in-person event is sold out, what are my options?

If a live streamed option is available, you will be able to book tickets via our website or buy a Digital Pass to watch it and our other recordings. Alternatively, our in-person events have a waiting list that you can be added to, but we cannot guarantee spaces will become available.

I loved an event so much I want to watch it again, can I?

Yes, you can! Our Digital Pass was so popular this summer, we are offering a Digital Pass for our Autumn Edition so you can re-watch all your favourite events from the Festival. You can buy it from 20 September.

Can I purchase refreshments during my event?

Refreshments are available at our Festival venues QUAD and Derby Theatre. We have included links to the respective websites for you to browse. You are advised to check for updates ahead of your event.

What are the parking arrangements at venues?

Most of our venues are in the city centre and you will need to park in designated car parks or on the streets - most of this parking is metered.

COVID:

Keeping our Festival-goers safe is our number one priority. With this in mind, we have created a short section dedicated to answering to most frequently asked Covid-related questions:

We are working closely with all our venue partners to ensure all events are managed safely and comply with the latest government guidance, such as social distancing, mask wearing, extra signage, one-way systems and enhanced cleaning.

Each venue has specific guidelines, here are the latest updates for Quad and Derby Theatre.

As the situation continues to change, we recommend you check the venue website for updates.
