Carol Ann Duffy with John Sampson
7:30pm - 9:00pm - Friday 3 June
Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate, brings an event of light and shade, laughter and reflection to Derby Cathedral to open the second Derby Book Festival. Carol Ann’s work has changed the face of contemporary poetry and she is especially renowned for her monologue style. She will read from her acclaimed poetry collections, including The World’s Wife, The Bees and other works. Her writing explores both everyday experience and our inner worlds in deceptively simple, accessible and profound poems.
Carol Ann will be accompanied by John Sampson, her favourite court musician, who will take us on a virtuoso tour through musical highlights of the past 500 years, played on a fascinating collection of period and modern instruments.
Doors will open at 6:45pm and the event will be followed by book sales and signings.
Tickets will be available from 1st January 2016.
