Paterson (15) is an acclaimed new film focusing on the life of a fictional poet as he finds inspiration for work in his daily life and job as a bus driver. It will be screened from Friday 2 December.
Paterson (Adam Driver) is a bus driver in the city of Paterson, New Jersey – they share the same name. Every day, he adheres to a simple routine: he drives his daily route, observing the city as it drifts across his windshield and overhearing fragments of conversation swirling around him; he writes poetry in a notebook; he walks his dog; he stops in a bar and drinks exactly one beer; he goes home to his wife, Laura (Golshifteh Farahani).
By contrast Laura’s life is changing constantly and Paterson loves Laura and supports her new found ambitions. This film quietly observes the triumphs and defeats of daily life, along with the poetry evident in its smallest details.
Featuring poetry written for the film by the acclaimed writer Ron Padgett, Paterson, has received universal praise from critics.
“Adam Driver’s Paterson will be treasured for years…It’s an honour to know him, and a serious ache to say goodbye.” – The Telegraph
