Do you love reading and enjoy meeting new people? If you can spare 2 – 3 hours each week or fortnight Shared Reading could be for you.
We are running an information session in Derby on the morning of Thursday 25 October. The session will be very informal and will give you chance to find out about the project, meet volunteers currently delivering Shared Reading, ask questions and learn more about how we’d like to extend the project and how you could become involved if you would like to.
If you would like to come along please email and we will send you further details: firstname.lastname@example.org

Another exciting Book Festival
If June seems a long way off for our next Festival, pop over to Repton for the first Repton Literary Festival, which will take place over 3 days from 26 – 28 October. Mainly hosted by Repton School, there are some excellent authors appearing there: Roy Hattersley, Pete Brown, Sarah Ward and Roz Watkins. Tickets are now on sale and there are day and weekend passes available. Visit: https://www.reptonliteraryfestival.co.uk/whats-on for full details.
An Evening with Sarah Ward
Pop along to Glossop Library on Monday 15th October for an evening with another great local crime writer, Sarah Ward, who has written novels that tie into the unique ‘Derbyshire Noir’ genre set in the Peak District! Tickets cost £4.78 and can be booked here.
Only a couple of weeks until our special, off-programme event with Paddy Ashdown on Tuesday 23 October in QUAD. Paddy will be talking about his new book Nein! Standing up to Hitler, 1935–1944. Don’t miss out on tickets – they cost £7 each and you can book them at QUAD. The event will be followed by a book sale, organised by our partners Waterstones, and a signing.
