Just in case you haven’t spotted the dates on the website, Derby Book Festival 2019 will be held from 31 May to 8 June. This means the Festival starts at the end of the schools’ half term holiday again and it seems to be the favoured date for us and our partners across the city.
Special event announcement coming soon
We are planning to hold a few events during the year to keep your appetite whetted in anticipation of the feast in store next June! We’ll be announcing the first event in the next few weeks, which will be held at QUAD in the autumn.
How many tickets!!
We’ve now done the final figures and our 2018 ticket sales reached 6832, an increase of 25% on 2018’s sales. Thank you for your support – we’ve also identified (from our evaluation forms) that five people attended 19 events each this year!
Free e-book: Three Things I’d Tell My Younger Self
We can all think of times when we have needed advice to help us, particularly those difficult teenage years! Joanna Cannon, author of Three Things about Elsie, has compiled a very special FREE collection of advice for our younger selves, with ideas from a whole host of inspirational people.
It is an inspiring, moving and frequently hilarious collection which includes advice from – among others – authors, journalists, clergy, nurses and doctors; and their words will offer both solace and entertainment to readers at any milestone in life, from exam results and educational choices to love, health, friendship and careers. Contributors include Tracy Chevalier, Nathan Filer, Patrick Gale, Lionel Shriver, Fern Britton, Adam Kay, Lev Parikian and Joanna herself … as well as many more.
You can download the e-book online.
Thank you for your feedback
We received over 600 feedback forms at events and online which provides us with invaluable information about this year’s Festival events and some great ideas for future years. We now have a winner of the £25 Waterstones book token in our prize draw. Congratulations to Sue Baker!
