Join the Festival Crowd

16th March 2015

Join the Festival Crowd!

Today we have launched a Crowd Funding site and would welcome your support to reach our target of £2500. This will help to guarantee the Festival’s success and ensure its place in the UK’s annual book festival calendar. Because we are a registered charity, we will be able to claim Gift Aid on any donations we receive.

We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from so many people and organisations who have donated their time and expertise for free. As you can imagine there are significant costs in organising and promoting the Festival and we have been busy applying for grants and seeking sponsorship. Some of the events are self-financing, but others aren’t!

If you would like to be part of the ‘Festival Crowd’ we offering three levels of donation. You can pledge as much or as little as you like, from £1 upwards. If you pledge £25 we will publish your name in our Festival programme, which will be available on World Book Night (23 April), plus give you one ticket to the Festival’s Opening night event on 1 June at The Roundhouse, Derby (the event will be free, but this will guarantee your  place). For the first five people who pledge £100 or more, as well as having your name highlighted in the programme, you will receive two tickets to both the Opening night and the VIP reception on 1 June.

Find out more about how to donate here.

Thank you to everyone who has entered our writing competition. We are delighted with the response and have received over 250 entries.  Judging will take place in the next few days so that we can announce the winners at the Festival launch on 23 April, World Book Night. The winning stories will be printed on Festival bookmarks, which will be available on the same night. All winners will be informed before the Festival launch and invited to attend.
