Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting help at hand

Calling all Parents!  Now that the holidays are with us you may be grateful for some tips about Calmer, Easier and Happier parenting to help you with the challenging (and rewarding) job that parenting can be?  If so, we have just the event for you.  Join us on Tuesday 7 June from 11.00-12.00 when Noel Janis Norton, a top parenting specialist, will be at Déda to share some simple steps to take the daily battles out of parenting.

Weekend entertainment

Looking for children’s entertainment this weekend?

There are lots of Festival activities and events over the weekend.

Friday 3 June – The Doodle Dance Show, Déda

Grab a pen and kick off your shoes for this playful interactive story show that will get the whole family involved.  For ages 3+

Saturday 4 June – Bringing Books to Life event, Market Place – FREE

Calling all chiddlers and other human beans!  Skididdle to Derby Market Place to be catching a tiny glimp of your favourite books and be joining the brain-boggling fun!

Celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday year by doing his favourite things – wear something yellow, wear something backwards, use the BFG’s favourite language, swap a Roald Dahl book, talk backwards (well OK – maybe a bit too twitch-tickling!), bring your own revolting rhyme, give someone a treat, create a mural – and so much more!

But whatever you do, don’t be forgetting to dress up as your favourite book character and have a chance of winning a book token!  Judging at 11.15am, 1.30pm and 3pm after Oddsocks and Quite Remarkable theatre shows.

Find out more.

Saturday 4 June – Andy Cope events

Popular children’s author Andy has two events in QUAD, sponsored by the Ashby Fund: one for under 12s with a special appearance from his Spydog Lara and one on The Art of Being a Brilliant Teenager.

Sunday 5 June – Augustus and His Smile, Derby Museum & Art Gallery

You can catch two performances of this new show by Face Up Theatre featuring Catherine Rayner’s popular children’s book.

And there’s lots more …
