Two Guardian Live events to be announced
We are very excited to announce that, in association with The Guardian, we will have two Guardian Live events in our Festival programme this year. Tickets for one of these events go on sale on Tuesday 29 March. Can’t give too much away, but it’s fair to say that the venue, Derby Theatre, is definitely the perfect place to host this particular author! Watch out for more details on our website and social media. The second Guardian Live event will be announced on 5 April at Derby Reads.
Derby Book Festival – Ashbourne Taster Event, Friday 15 April
We are very grateful to Mark and Petra Courtney, owners and managers of St John Street Gallery & Café for offering to host a special Ashbourne Taster event for us to help spread the word more widely to Ashbourne residents and the Gallery’s supporters and friends. Mark is a book lover as well as an art lover and we were delighted when he wanted to get involved with the Festival.
The event will be introduced by Liz Fothergill, our very active, committed and supportive Festival Chair, whose enthusiasm continues to inspire us to develop a more exciting and innovative programme. It will also be one of her first public appointments as the new High Sheriff of Derbyshire. Liz will introduce the 2016 Festival programme and the evening will also feature readings from Festival authors (and local residents) Joanna Cannon and Andy Cope.
The Ashbourne Taster event starts at 6pm on Friday 15 April with wine and canapés served before the welcome and readings. Entry is by ticket only. You can book now for this FREE event by visiting St John Street Gallery & Café or by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org – spaces are limited.
Our programme is complete!
Our wonderful designers at WDA Branding have completed the programme today and it’s now with the printers. At the final count, we have a total of 73 entertaining, stimulating and exciting events for your delectation and delight! We feel this year’s programme has a broader range of events and genres as well as more activities for children, teenagers and families. We find it hard to believe that anyone could fail to find an event they would want to attend! Copies of the programme will be available from Tuesday 5 April when the programme is launched at our Derby Reads event in QUAD. You will be able to pick up copies at venues across the city as well as from libraries, tourist offices and Artboxes etc. If you haven’t booked your FREE place at Derby Reads yet, tickets are going fast.
