Flash Fiction Writing Competition
People clearly can’t wait to tell us their ‘Secrets’! We have received over 150 entries to our Fifty Word Flash Fiction Writing competition and there are still nearly two weeks to go. You still have time to enter: the competition closes on 19 February 2016. There are two categories: under 16s and over 16s. Have a go … it’s great fun as well as challenging.
Carol Ann Duffy tickets – don’t delay
If you haven’t yet booked your tickets for our Opening Event with Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, don’t delay! Since 1 January we have sold 170 tickets and demand is undoubtedly high. The event, sponsored by Geldards Law Firm, will also include music by John Sampson, who Carol Ann describes as her “favourite court musician”.
Tickets cost £12 and you can book online or in person at the Festival Box Office at QUAD, Derby.
Festival events for all the family
We will be expanding our Festival programme this year with more events and book related activities for children and families. We have had feedback from parents asking for an author event that they can come to with their children, and we will be announcing one very soon. It will be held in QUAD on Saturday 4 June, when there will also be lots of activities on the Market Place at our special Bringing Books to Life event throughout the day.
Derby Museum & Art Gallery will also be repeating their Make It sessions, which proved so popular last year, from 1 – 5pm. More details will be revealed in future eshots.
Lots of people have asked us how they can support the Festival (apart from by buying tickets to events of course). We are very grateful to local businesses and individuals who have already sponsored the Festival. If you would like to find out more about sponsorship packages, please do get in touch by emailing email@example.com
